Fraud Risk Intelligence

Know more about the accounts your customers are paying

Give your existing fraud controls the receiving-account intelligence they are missing. Identify genuine risk, reduce false positives and make better payment decisions before the money moves.

Detect more genuine fraud

Identify receiving-account risks that your existing payer-side data may miss, helping you stop more suspicious payments before the money moves.

Reduce false positives

Use verified account facts and the receiving account’s history across the SurePay network to recognise legitimate accounts that may appear unfamiliar from your bank’s view.

Focus analyst time on genuine risk

Give fraud analysts more precise information so they can spend less time reviewing legitimate payments and more time investigating genuine threats.

Stop known fraud before it reaches you

Use confirmed fraud findings contributed by other SurePay’s network participants and trusted sources to identify risky receiving accounts before they affect your bank and customers.

How it works

Banks have detailed information about the customer making a payment, but often have limited visibility into the account receiving it. Fraud Risk Intelligence helps to close this gap through three connected stages: verify, detect and share.

Verify

Verification Of Payee, or Confirmation of Payee in the UK, checks whether the recipient name entered by the payer matches the holder of the receiving account.

Because the check takes place before the payment is processed, it creates the foundation for Fraud Risk Intelligence to identify receiving-account activity and risk before the money moves.

Detect

Fraud Risk Intelligence adds information about the receiving account to the verification check.

Account Context provides facts such as the account’s age, holder type and number of account holders. Account Activity analyses how the account has appeared in verification requests across the SurePay network.

These signals are combined into an explainable Risk Score that helps your bank assess whether the receiving account presents an increased or decreased risk of fraud.

Share

Share enables the banks participating into the SurePay’s network to contribute confirmed fraud findings and check receiving accounts against intelligence shared by other participants and trusted sources.

This helps fraud teams identify risks that may already be known elsewhere but are not visible within their own bank’s data.
