The Switch Check is an addition to the Verification of Payee API. With this check, bank’s customers are notified when an account holder has switched banks. They can immediately store the new payment details into their banking app.

Notification upon initiation of payment

If a bank uses the SurePay Switch Check, the payer will be notified when the payee has switched to another bank. This way he can immediately pay to the new IBAN and update his address book. This speeds up the adoption of new account numbers.

Switch Check in the API for banks and organisations

The Switch Check is an addition to the Verification of Payee API. In case of a “match / close match” result to a switched beneficiary, the API issues a notification with the new IBAN. With a “no match”, this is obviously not given to discourage phishing of account numbers. In consultation we can make the Switch Check available to users of the VoP API.
